    Welcome to the ARISE Home Farms Scheme Inspired by the visionary leadership of Governor Umo Eno, Ph.D., through the ARISE Agenda, the ARISE Home Farms Scheme is a call to action for sustainable agriculture and food sufficiency. This initiative reflects the Governor’s commitment to empowering individuals and families to grow their own food, reduce the cost of staple foods, and ensure access to fresh, nutritious produce. By encouraging the use of small, available spaces, whether in backyards, front yards, or even in containers on balconies, the scheme aligns with the Governor’s vision of transforming Akwa Ibom State into a model of food  self-reliance.  Join us in fulfilling this mission. How it works

  • Step one: Register

    • Register on the arisehomefarms.akwaibomstate.gov.ng
    • You will need a valid email address and NIN.
    • You will need to complete a liveness test to ensure that you are using your details to register.
  • Step two: Upload your Home Farm Video

    • Record and upload a short video of your home farm not more than 2 minutes
    • Video must show that the farm is located at your home and the crops and or livestock.
    • Only the owner of the farm (the person entering the competition) should appear in the video other persons should not appear in the video.
    • Each participant is allowed to send in one video only.
    • All entries must be received on the 31st December 2024.
  • Step three: Video Verification

    • Your uploaded video would be verified, in some cases the verification team from the Ministry of Agriculture might visit your home.
    • You must be present during the verification team’s visit to your home farm
  • Step four: Result

    • All participants would be notified of the outcome after the verification and the winners would be announced at the new year.

1What is the ARISE Home Farms Scheme?

The ARISE Home Farms Scheme is an initiative of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, designed to encourage individuals and households to engage in home gardening as part of the Back to Farm initiative. It aims to promote agriculture, enhance food security, and foster family participation in food production across Akwa Ibom State.

2How do I participate in the Scheme?

To participate in the ARISE Home Farms Scheme, record a two minutes video showcasing your garden or farm with a visible landmark (such as your home). Submit the video along with the following details:     •    Name     •    Age     •    Occupation     •    NIN     •    Residential Address (State, LGA)     •    Location and Size of Garden     •    Valid Phone Number     •    Recent Picture Submissions should be made to Portal.

3What crops are eligible for consideration under the Scheme?

Eligible crops include:
    •    Cassava
    •    Peppers
    •    Spices (e.g., Curry, Ntong, Iko, and others)
    •    Tomatoes
    •    Cucumbers
    •    Vegetables (e.g., Okra, Pumpkin, Waterleaf, Afang, Atama, Editan, Onions, and others)
    •    Fruit Trees (e.g., Mango, Orange, Pawpaw, Coconut, Guava, Avocado)

Other crops that align with the scheme’s goals may also be considered.

4How will participants’ claims be verified?

After submissions are received, a team of extension agents will visit the  farms and gardens to verify the authenticity of the claims made in the videos.

5What benefits are available for participants?

Every quarter, 600 winners will be selected across the state, 200 winners per Senatorial District. These winners will receive financial support to expand and enhance their home gardening efforts.

6Who can participate in the initiative?

The scheme is open to all residents of Akwa Ibom State who have a home garden or small farm, regardless of their location or background.

7How are winners selected?

Winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:
    •    Accuracy of information provided 
    •    Size of the garden
    •    Variety of crops grown
    •    Personal involvement
    •    Sustainability practices
    •    Overall impact

8How often will winners be announced?

Winners will be announced quarterly (every three months). The list of selected participants will be published.

9How do I submit my video?

Log on to : https://arisehomefarms.akwaibomstate.gov.ng/: and follow the submission process. Winners will be announced through the official State Government website, social media platforms, radio, television, and newspapers.

10What is the ultimate goal of the scheme?

The scheme aims to encourage food production at the household level, promote healthy living, and contribute to the overall agricultural development of Akwa Ibom State.

11Can I grow crops other than those listed?

Yes, you can grow other crops. However, priority will be given to those specified under the scheme. Additional crops may be considered if they align with the program’s objectives.
